Welcome to the Bramley Grange Baby Room

Before any baby joins Bramley Grange we always spend time with the parents to gather information about their child in order to make the transition between the home and nursery environment as smooth as possible.

Our qualified, caring, knowledgeable and experienced staff work with our parents to fully understand the needs of all children in our care to always ensure that they feel safe, loved and we give them lots of attention. We also employ a key-worker system in each room to ensure that a familiar adult is always present.

A key-worker has special responsibilities for working with a small number of children, giving them the reassurance to feel safe and cared for and building relationships with their parents.

Children develop quickly and are eager to learn and explore. Our role is to nurture that development, support them to help them to develop a positive sense of themselves and others, in an interesting and stimulating environment.

We use many techniques to help a child to develop including:

  • Reading books together
  • Building towers using construction equipment
  • Allow plenty of time to play and have fun
  • Singing songs/learning lullabies/playing gentle music
  • Use mirrors to develop recognition of self
  • Imitate animal songs to encourage baby to copy
  • Encourage mobility by placing toys just out of reach
  • Play 'peek-a-boo' games
  • Encourage self-feeding
  • Provide push pull toys to promote confidence in walking
  • Play games that involve action and taking turns
  • Encourage play with messy materials
  • Provide balls to roll, throw or kick
  • Encourage to use manners and be polite to each other
  • We have the outdoor area to encourage gross motor skills development
  • Our baby room is spacious allowing plenty of room for children to move, roll, stretch and explore. We also offer free-flow continuous provisions and activities including:

    • Mark making
    • Painting Playdough
    • Stories
    • Imaginative Play
    • Construction
    • Sand
    • Singing
    • Movement to music

As each child approaches the end of their time in the Baby Room, they have a transition period into the toddler room with their key-worker; at this time the child’s ‘Amazing Adventures’ journal will be shared with the child’s new key-worker to ensure continuity of care and the child’s individual needs are met.
